VIDEO EDITING

Video editing has always been my first love, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than visual storytelling.

Fort McMurray: The Road Back

"Fort McMurray: The Road Back" was the 2017 Canadian Screen Award winner for Best News Segment. This section of the news special was dedicated to letting the first responders of the wild fires tell their stories.

"Fort McMurray: The Road Back" gave me the opportunity to stretch my creative limits in news editing. I wanted to tell the stories of those displaced by the wildfires as best as I could from a visual stand point. Ultimately, this helped to win Global Edmonton's Canadian Screen Award for Best News Segment, something I am proud to be apart of.

NEWS STORIES

With only a few hours to complete this piece, I included a blend of video and images to help tell this emotional story.

"Woman of Vision" is a monthly feature on Global Edmonton that I had the opportunity to edit together. This story included steady-cam video, along with a variety of b-roll and music beds that drove the finished piece.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

I’ve always been fascinated by visual communication, and it has quickly become a love of mine. Below are examples I’ve created for both work and during my time studying at NAIT. I feel at home designing a variety of creative pieces, whether it be with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop. Please click on the images below to view them larger.

As part of our second semester in Graphic Communications, we were tasked to complete a “Special Project” with the outcome being to replicate a piece of graphical art. I chose the digital art piece “Mindbreaker” by CGI artist Pierre Bourjo. Created in Adobe Illustrator, I implemented the use of gradient mesh and Gaussian blurs to achieve the final outcome.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I took it upon myself to create a map of Edmonton for CBC News, breaking down each neighbourhood by case count. These maps were continually updated and posted to our social media websites. They garnered praise from our viewers for helping to keep them informed.

A colleague at CBC News was working on a story about the first month of COVID-19 in Alberta and its timeline. I created this infograph highlighting major milestones. This was embedded into the corresponding webstory.

With this layout, I opted to explore the clean aesthetic of interior design magazines. All images provided by Shutterstock. Layout created in Adobe InDesign.

This illustrative map of Barrhead was created within Adobe Illustrator. Vector graphics were created to mark important locations within the community, and a calligraphy brush was used to give the map a home-made, vintage feel.

Edmonton’s Neon Sign Museum came to the Graphic Communications program looking for a logo design along with merchandise to go with it. I created this logo in Adobe Illustrator, along with the merchandise mock-up. Images provided by Shutterstock.

Dickinsfield Amity House was a client we had the opportunity to work with in Graphic Communications at NAIT. A north Edmonton non-profit, they were looking for a redesign of their logo, as well as a stationery and brochure package. I designed these elements in Adobe InDesign, and the logo in Adobe Illustrator. Images provided by Shutterstock.

The goal of this skateboard design was to show unity within a piece while maintaining a different design on either side. I created the maneki nekos as vectors in Adobe Illustrator. The background designs were images provided by Shutterstock.

This Remembrance Day banner was selected as one of the top in our Graphic Communications class and was displayed on NAIT’s main campus. I designed this in Adobe Photoshop, with vector elements and photo provided by Shutterstock.
